Bookmarks and Ornament Gift Tags... Oh, My!

Before sharing today's projects, I'm sending thoughts and prayers to the Oklahoma State community, as well as to those affected by Hurricane Patricia. It's hard to fathom how life can turn upside down so quickly.

Craft Show Projects

It's been a busy week here -- attended a new book club, a film festival, a food truck event, and a craft show! In spite of all that, I managed to get a little crafting done.  :)

The last few years, I've found craft show attendees have purchased fewer and fewer Christmas cards. It seems there are two reasons for this: folks are sending lots more photo cards and most folks who like handmade cards make their own.

So, I'm changing up my approach. I'm making fewer Christmas cards and more everyday sentiment ones. I'm also adding gift card holders, bookmarks, and ornament gift tags to my inventory. Today, I have a bookmark and some ornament gift tags to share.

Parting Thoughts

There are a few more days to play along with our Fight-Like-a-Girl Challenge at Words 2 Scrap By. A new challenge starts up on November 1.

There is one more week to play along with our Trick-or-Treat Challenge at Cards in Envy. A new challenge will go live on November 2.

And, Send a Smile 4 Kids has a Celebration Cards 4 Kids Challenge in progress.

SAS4Kids Challenges are card only challenges, while CIE Challenges involve making A2 cards that can be sent USPS without any additional postage. W2SB is an equal-opportunity-crafting zone. Hope you will join us at one or both challenges.  :)

Hope you have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  2. Busy busy busy!

In all my years of doing craft shows, I think I sold one box of Christmas cards. The buyer said 5 "special" people would be getting them. That person was my favorite customer. The problem is it doesn't cost US any less to put 5 cards together in a box (heck, you need to add the cost of the box!), and people aren't willing to pay $20 for 5 cards.

People used to ask me why there aren't more card-makers at craft shows, and I'd honestly tell them there's no money in it.
