CIE A Very Vintage Christmas

Hi, everyone! It's the first Monday of the month... and we all know what that means.  :)

Vintage is not my usual style. So, I was initially a little uncertain as to what I was going to do. And, then I saw that wonderfully vintage-feel paper in the Stampin' Up! holiday catalog. At least that's my gonna-have-to-buy-that-paper story... and I'm sticking to it!   :)

Stampin' Up! 2015 holiday dp and crumb cake cardstock; Recollections black cardstock
tulle; stash rub-on sentiment, gifted from a friend
SU owl builder punch for tiny circles on either side of sentiment
adhesives: Scotch ATG, Recollections foam squares, Zig 2-way glue pen; Memento black pen

Thanks go to friend and CIE teamie Annie for suggesting that I make this paper-pieced, fussy-cut poinsettia the real star of the show by placing it in the center of the card. Thanks to a friend from work for the gift of some wonderful card-making items, including this perfect sentiment. And, thanks to Jennifer McGuire for the tip to outline fussy-cut images in black.

We had so many wonderful cards linked up to our last CIE challenge. We hope y'all will come back and join us for our new challenge. Remember CIE cards need to fit into A2 standard envelopes and be flat/light enough to mail with one forever USPS stamp.

Parting Thoughts
There's a holiday-themed challenge going on at Words 2 Scrap By too! This month, we are using the words from 'Twas the Night before Christmas as our challenge inspiration. And, there's a $10 gift certificate to My Favorite Things up for grabs! How's that for any early stocking stuffer?!

Have a great week! And, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  1. The difference between you and me is I would see the vintage paper and say "blech" and move on. I would not buy it in case someone asked for a vintage-looking card.

However, your card is lovely, and I do like the idea of using a vintage-looking piece of paper to get things started.

PS: That tulle is white, I'm pretty sure, not black per your description.

  2. This is such a stunner, and the mesh (toile? tulle?) makes for such a beautiful backdrop for that gorgeous layered poinsettia! You do vintage so well!!

  3. Hi Sybrina! Your poinsettia card is absolutely stunning! It definitely has that retro/vintage feeling. It has been great serving with you on the Cards In Envy DT this year and getting to know you!

  4. I loved how you layered the pointsietta! Really beautiful card! I didn't realize that you hadn't stamped the flower until I watched your video! Have a great day Sybrina!
