Hey, Chickie... It's Thankful Thursday

Hi everyone! Happy Thursday!

Know those times of the year when your calendar runneth over with special events? Well, April is one of those months for me -- particularly the first week of April. I have three special birthdays one after another after another.... literally. Three straight days of birthdays that need to be celebrated.

One of those celebrating an early April birthday is my dear friend Linda. Linda's card was inspired by the Cards in Envy Black and White Challenge and the current My Favorite Things Sketch.

Stampin' Up! black and yellow cardstocks; stash white
Sasayaki Party Chooks digi image, colored with Prismacolor pencils
SU Basket Bunch stamp 5-egg stamp, inked up with Distress Ink black soot
original computer-generated sentiment; SU word bubble and picture frame dies
adhesives: Scotch ATG, foam backing

I took a lot of inspiration from Annie's pops of yellow on her CIE DT card. I'm not usually a huge fan of the black, white, and yellow combo. But, in this case, I decided to make this sweet little chick my pop of yellow.  :)

The background was created using a 5-egg SU stamp. I think this required 30 stamp re-positionings. In the end, I know three things: 1) I never, ever could've done this without a MISTI, 2) I LOVE the result, and 3) Linda is a very dear friend for me to ink up this background.  :)

The chicks are a digi prize that I won in a recent challenge. These cuties are from Sasayaki Glitter, which is a new company to me. Something tells me this won't be the last time I visit this online store.

The sentiment banner and word bubble were created in WORD. I made two text boxes that had black fill and white font.

I'm also going to link this up to two Simon Says Challenges: Layer It Up and Use More than One Die or Punch (dies to cut out the chickie panel and the word bubble).

Thankful Thursday

Market Street Cafe
Tonight, I'm thankful for decadent desserts. Like the worth-every-single-Calorie-and-then-some Bailey's Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. Oh, my... These cheesecakes are supplied to the Market Street Cafe by an island homemade baker. And, yummy does't even begin to describe them.

Parting Thoughts

A quick reminder that our Words 2 Craft By Challenge is still going strong. Annie's hosting this month... and is offering up a $15 gift certificate. See you at W2CB.  :)

Have a nice Friday and a wonderful weekend! Until next time, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
