SAS4Kids: Cards for Moms or Special Females

Hi, everyone! It's time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge.

For the next few weeks, our focus is on cards for moms or special females. Since Mother's Day is fast approaching, our shippers are looking for cards that kids can give to moms... and grandmas, sisters, best friends. Well, you get the idea.

Just know, cards don't have to say "Happy Mother's Day". These cards actually have longer shelf lives -- and more flexibility -- if they have more general sentiments.

We have two great prizes for this challenge:

  • a $12 gift certificate from A Day for Daisies and
  • a $25 gift certificate from Kitchen Sink Stamps.

For my card, I went with an appropriately-titled -- and an oh-so-sweet -- digi from A Day for Daisies: Flowers for My Mommy.

Flowers for My Mommy digi from A Day for Daisies, colored with Prismacolor pencils
Neenah Soler and stash white cardstock; Twinery baker's twine
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Ranger multi medium matte;; foam backing

I decided to not include any sentiment at all. This way, the card could go to any special female... and could be for any occasion, like a birthday.

I printed the digi twice: once on white without any special effects and once on white applying an artistic effect to create a blue fill. I colored our little girl and her basket on the white card stock and then fussy cut these out. Since the image was almost square, I sized it to be about 4.25" by 4.25 to accommodate a standard A2 envelope. Finally, I used the scallop die on all four sides of the card base, embellished with a bit of twine, and attached the colored top layer.

Hope to see you at SAS4Kids! We'd love to get lots of cards for our kids to give to their moms/females.
