A Roller Coaster of a Month

Hi, everyone.

Even though a posted an SAS4Kids card on Saturday, it seems like forever since I've blogged. That SAS4Kids card was done a while ago... and I've not spent much time in the menopause room lately.

Our sweet little Miles had not been well for a couple of weeks. Sadly, we had to say good-bye to our little guy on Saturday.

Miles came to us from a local shelter 12 years ago... and was a beloved member of our family. And, while this was a heart-wrenching decision, it was absolutely the right decision for him. So, why am I tearing up just looking at this pic?

Our broken hearts came home to an eerily quiet house filled with his things. As we started to collect some of his things for safe keeping -- things like that chewed-off-ear sock monkey of his -- an atypically emotional hubby turned to me and said, "You know it's Clear the Shelter Day"... to which I replied, "I was thinking the same thing. But, we can't, can we?"

We went... and didn't find our next furever friend, but shockingly found ourselves wanting to open up our home to another rescue pup. After reaching out to several rescues, a little one wiggled his way into our hearts.... and Little Brodie is arriving today!!! Look for a pic or two or three here tomorrow.  :)

So, I finally found the mojo to finish a My Favorite Things sketch-inspired card that had been started nearly a week ago.

Bazzill, Stampin' Up!, Recollections, and Neenah Soler white cardstock; Recollections burlap
MFT Farm-tastic images and sentiment, stamped with Versamark black onyx
images colored with Prismacolor pencils
MFT picket fence die; Stampin' Up! word bubble die
SU owl builder (heart) punch; circles: Spellbinders  die and Creative Memories cutting system
Wink of Stella embellishments
I'm also going to share this at the Cards in Envy Penny for Your Thoughts Challenge. It's been way too long since I've played over there.

  1. Hi Sybrina! So sorry for the loss of your sweet doggie! I know that day is coming sooner than I want for my old dog. Kudos for you for finding another dog that needs a fur-ever home. They can't replace the one you had before but will brighten your life in a new day. Love this cute little farm card! Have a great day!

  3. You certainly have had an emotional roller-coaster of a time, Sybrina. I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to Miles, but I know you gave him a wonderful 12 years when you rescued him and I cannot wait to meet Brodie! If you're dog people, you're dog people and you simply can't be without! I'm glad you were able to have some crafty time, too. Your card is so cute! You always know how to nail a sketch!!
