W2CB #48: Christmas in My Heart

Hi, everyone! Happy Holidays!

Today's card was inspired by our December/January Words 2 Craft By Challenge. Our words come to us from Charles Dickens.

I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.

The card below was made for a good friend who is celebrating the holidays in a brand new home.  :)

SU crumb cake, cherry cobbler, very vanilla; Distress Ink barn door red
SU At Home with You stamp set and coordinating dies; Paper Smooches bow die
images stamped in Versamark black onyx and colored with Prismacolor pencils; Uniball gold accents
SU decorative mask, applied using Wendy Vecchi embossing paste
inking with Distress fired brick Oxide and Distress hickory smoke Ink
door embossed with Versamark ink and Recollections clear powder
adhesives: Scotch ATG; foam backing; Xyron

The pic shows my second attempt at this card.
  • I decided the house needed to be grounded. So, I added the cement step.
  • I also wanted a better look for the doorbell and handle. To achieve this look, I: stamped the image in black, colored in the doorbell and handle, re-stamped in black, stamped over the black in Versamark embossing ink, and heat embossed using clear powder.
When I saw this set in the SU catalog, I immediately thought of creating old-fashioned new home and/or holiday cards. Turns out it made for a perfect First Christmas in Your New Home card.  :)

Hope you'll join us at W2CB. Marty's hosting. And, of course, there's a prize up for grabs.

See you at W2CB!

  3. You really brought this stamp set to life in the way you created the door and concrete step to ground it! I wasn't impressed with this stamp set until I saw what you did with it, and now I see a possibility I couldn't see before! Great card, and thanks for the inspiration! Have a very Merry Christmas!
