Party Like a PIRATE

Hi, everyone! Yes.... Back with my second post! Will wonders never cease?

Turns out the last Windows update didn't update quite right. So, this laptop had to go in for a tune-up. It's working great... but between the update and the fix, I lost a lot of my freebie programs.... like my photo editor and watermark programs... which means I'm working with new programs.... and some uploads are working better than others.

Okay, now that that's that. Here's the card I've popped in to share. This vignette featuring a partying pirate and his parrot mate was inspired by the current MFT Sketch Challenge.

MFT dp; Stampin' Up! cardstock; Distress Ink core paper
MFT Party Like a Pirate images and sentiment, in MFT black licorice
party hat: SU Party Pandas; beach dune: Lawn Fawn Life Is Good; balloon Face: Lawn Fawn Plane and Simple
all images colored with Prismacolor pencils
waves: Paper Smooches die; SU ribbon
tag colored in Distress Inks
A few thoughts:

  • I switched out the pirate's flag with a balloon... and added a little pirate face to the balloon for a bit of whimsy. Trust me, there was some pretty intense fussy cutting to get that eye patch.
  • The party hat was snagged from another stamp set to dress up Polly.
  • Lastly, I originally planned to have some ocean waves passing over and behind the tag, running the full length of the card. However, I decided the horizontal strip needed to be a non-blue color. So, I ended up placing the strip behind the tag, using it as the sentiment strip.

In addition to sharing this over at MFT, I'm also going to link it  up at:

Thanks for stoppin' and happy scrappin!
