Mum-my's the Word!

Hi, everyone! I'm here today with a card inspired by the current Send a Smile 4 Kids cute fall/Halloween challenge.

Cosmo Cricket matilda dp; Bazzill orange; stash white and black; Distress Ink dusty concord
CraftSmart image, heat embossed in Distress Ink black soot
Stampon' Up! good guy greetings
Sizzix/SU embossing folder
punches: SU owl builder (for tiny circle); EK hole punch; Creative Memories hole punch
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Zig 2-way glue pen; Recollections foam squares

I used the current Mojo Monday sketch for this little mummy card. Loved the sketch, and thought it made for a great focal point for a Halloween character. I thought the background panel in the sketch could make for an interesting treatment. During a recent stamp club get-together, we played with a background technique that used lots of strips. So, why not go with all white strips in a random pattern to mimic the mummy's wrapping. I then carried the idea through to the black horizontal strip and the sentiment.

So, I decided to break in one of those $1.50 bin stamps from Michael's. (Now that I'm making cards for SAS4Kids instead of OWH, I needed to some Halloween items to my stash. Who doesn't love an excuse reason to buy new stuff, right?!) Guess that means this little mummy qualifies for the amazing Darnell's current NBUS challenge.  :)

Parting Thoughts

There is a fun pirate-inspired challenge going on at Words 2 Scrap By! We'd love for all our mateys to join us.

And, the newest Cards in Envy challenge went live yesterday. The challenge for the next couple of weeks is to make a song-inspired A2 card.

Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  1. This is super cute! I saw this over at Darnell's NBUS challenge and had to pop over to comment - I love the texture you added to the background panel and to the layer behind the image. I also love the way you broke up the sentiment - it really complements the mummy so well!

  2. Such a cute Halloween card, Sybrina! Love the colorful layers, embossing and that adorable little mummy image :-)

  3. This is so fun, thanks for sharing and joining in on the NBUS challenge. Hugs Bev (Uniko) x

  4. Great Halloween card! Love that mummy. Thanks so much for joining in over at Darnell's using your NBUS. Good luck. Kylie - Happy Little Stampers xx

  5. You are going to bring a huge smile to some lucky youngster with this fabulous card, Sybrina! I am agog over all the awesome texture and can just see a child running his or her finger over all the edges and bumps! The sediment and background "bandage" treatments are dynamite!! Thank you so much for the shoutout and for playing in my NBUS Challenge #5!! Hugs, Darnell
