CIE From the Heart

Hi, everyone! Happy February! Welcome to a Cards in Envy Monday!

Can't think of a better challenge theme for early February than from-the-heart love and Valentine cards.  :)

Canson watercolor; Recollections black; Stampin' Up! vellum
Winnie & Walter sentiment, heat embossed with SU white powder
various Distress Inks applied with Ranger blending tool
Paper Smooches connected hearts die
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Zots glue dots; Zig 2 way pen; Ranger multi medium matte

This card was inspired by techniques learned from last year's Background Online Card Class. I love the way this colorful background peeks through the die cut hearts. One trick of the trade that we learned in the class was to use clear, transparent strips to let the background show through the strip. I used carefully placed glue dots to help secure the strip, including adding a few die cut hearts to the strip to add interest and glue concealment locations.

A friendly reminder that CIE cards need to be A2 size and flat/light enough to be sent with one USPS stamp. Hope you'll join us over at CIE to see what the other wonderful cards that the DT has created and come back to link up a from-the-heart card of your own.  :)

Parting Thoughts

The W2CB More Beginnings than Ending Challenge runs through Wednesday. There are a few MFTgift certificates as well as a Guest I-Teamer spot up for grabs. Hope you'll stop by and link up a project.

Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  3. I'm lovin' that rainbow background peeking through the background die cut with the vellum sentiment. Wonderful card! But...I must do some chanting now...I will not buy that die, I will not buy that die...LOL!
