Shining Bright on Opening Night

Hi, everyone! Just doing a little bloggin' while watching the closing ceremonies. It's actually been a pretty quiet weekend around here. How about you? Quiet or busy, hope it's been a good one.

I have a couple of SAS4Kids pics to share. The first features a couple of cards sent in from one of our cardmakers, the second is a card I made for the current SAS4Kids Anything Goes 4 Kids Challenge.

A Few of  Kathy's SAS4Kids Cards

Kathy, thanks again for donating! These Paper Smooches cuties were my favorite... and I know the kiddies will love them.  :)

My SAS4Kids Card: Shining Bright on Opening Night

DCWV Sweet matstack for pleated stage curtain; Neenah Soler white; Recollections blacked
Tim Holtz's Crazy Dogs and Crazy Things images, stamped in StazOn jet black, colored with Prismacolor pencils
(image colored in grayscale, with the exception of hat, collar, and tie accents)
image features embellished with Wink of Stella, Glossy Accents, and Uniball gold pen
Mama Elephant Reindeer Games lights, stamped in StazOn jet black, colored with Prismacolor pencils
Stampin' Up! Be the Star sentiment, stamped in StazOn jet black
background: Distress Inks mustard seed and scattered straw, applied with Ranger blending tool
Simon Says A2 curved edge die; Paper Smooches Borders 3 banner die
background detailed with SU star decorative mask
stash tassels; Little Things from Lucy's Cards Antique Christmas sequins
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Paper Studio foam circles; Ranger multi medium matte; Zots glue dots

The card above was inspired by this week's Sketch Saturday Challenge. When I first saw the sketch -- specifically the top element, I immediately thought of a stage curtain. I hope I've created a stage/theater feel. And, who better to bask in our opening night spotlight than a Crazy Dog?!

For those of you who have been following my attempts to honor my blasted no-buying-online-stamps-and-dies New Year's resolution... Yep, Brutus' bow tie and hat are from a newly purchased stamp set. Darn you, Tim Holtz and Kristina Werner!!!! I've broken my resolution three times, and you are responsible for two of those times. (Just for the record... Kim Hughes at Paper Smooches is responsible for my third misstep.)

Parting Thoughts

So, is anyone else drooling over the new SU holiday catalog? I think there are going to be a few punches coming this way... for starters. (Repeat after me: no stamps no dies no stamps no dies...)  :)

The Single Step Challenge is still going on over at Words 2 Craft By. And, we will be giving My Favorite Things to one randomly selected follower and one randomly selected participant. That's in addition to the chance to win a Guest Designer gig for a future W2CB Challenge. Hope you'll stop by and play along.

Have a great week! Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'.  :)
