Every two years, I seem to come down with a serious case of Olympic fever. I tell myself that I'm not going to let it happen.... but it happens nonetheless. :)
A big part of it is rooting for our country's athletes. It's just not possible to not get caught up in the success of our lady gymnasts and the swimming dominance of Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky.
But, the Olympic Games are so much more than that. It's being reminded of all those things -- big and small -- that unite all peoples as one. Here are three Olympic-related items for which I am thankful.
- athletes celebrating personal bests -- hardware or no hardware,
- the commercial -- yes, a commercial -- featuring Maya Angelou's lyrical voice and the images of so many beautiful faces and, perhaps most of all,
- the North Korean and South Korean girls posing together for a selfie.
That's it for tonight. Maybe... just maybe, I'll have a card to share tomorrow. Until then, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
