So, did you see the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Challenge over at Jingle Belles? If the bold face and underlining didn't give it away, the operative word is red and not reindeer.
I wanted to do something more than just using different red-colored papers. But what??? Then, I saw the latest Jennifer McGuire video and an idea was born. :)
When I saw Jennifer's video, I immediately knew I wanted to use that fun Paper Smooches wavy border die. Instead of stamping the tops and bottoms, I chose to use two different embossing folders... and am really pleased with the results. :)
I made the mistake of asking hubby which version he preferred: the green-backed card with the sanded core paper or the more subtly embossed card. Mr. Stoic chose the more subtle version. Of course he did... which led me to ask which card to send. So, I chose to take a pic showing both cards. (Just wish I would've straightened out the twine for the card on the left before snapping the photo. Funny the things you notice when you upload pics to the blog. Right?!)
I couldn't find quite the right green. So, I inked up some white cardstock for the back layer of the sanded card and the holly leaves on both. However, I did use a piece of stash cardstock for the leaves on the inside of the card.
Parting Thoughts
I received a couple of great boxes of cards for SAS4Kids. Today's boxes came from Diane Mawyer of VA and Nancy Criddle of SD. Thanks so much, ladies! Hope to share photos tomorrow.
A quick reminder about the new challenge at Words 2 Craft By. There are MFT gift certificates up for grabs. :)
Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
That red twine really pops ... love how you rocked the red with jingle belles.

ReplyDeleteohhhhh these are SPECTACULAR! i looooooooooove that the red patterns are EMBOSSED... i'm going to have to snag this idea, such a great way to get texture and interest with the SUGGESTION of pattern, but still quite subtle. and for the record, i love BOTH versions-- & i really love that there ARE 2 versions b/c you were exploring all the options! thanks for celebrating all things *RED* with us at JINGLE BELLES! :)
