SAS4Kids Easter/Spring Cards 4 Kids

Hi, everyone! It's the third Saturday of the month... which means it's time for a new Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge.

Our theme for the next few weeks is Easter/Spring Cards 4 Kids. This year, the deadline for Easter cards is March 16. Non-Easter-specific cards featuring bunnies, chickies, and all things spring have longer shelf lives and can be used for a variety of occasions.

Our sponsors for this challenge are Bugaboo and Tonic Studios. Bugaboo is offering a prize of 4 digis, while Tonic Studios is offering 8 colors of Crystal Drops Gloss. Our thanks to both of these wonderful companies for their support of SAS4Kids.

For my card, I used the fun, fun, fun Hey, Chickie image from Bugaboo.

Bugaboo Hey Chickie image, on Neenah Soler white
Distress Ink scattered straw core paper; stash (Bazzill/AC?) eggplant
Stampin' Up! Basket Bunch images: chicks in DI mustard seed; eggs in Versamark
Cuttlebug swiss dot and SU/Sizzix hexagon embossing folders
image embellished with various Stickles and Glossy Accents; SU baker's twine
adhesives: Scotch ATG; foam backing; Zig 2-way pen; Zots glue dot; Ranger multi medium matte
image close-up showing gold-pen, Stickles, and Glossy Accents accents
chicks stamped in mustard seed  on yellow paper for tone-on-tone effect
SU eggs stamped in Versamark on purple paper for tone-on-tone effect
SU basket builder die cuts; SU images stamped on mustard seed paper in blackberry bliss

I'm beginning to understand I can do most (all?) of the same things with digis as I did with old-fashioned stamped images. So, I printed several copies of this little chickie to do some paper piecing for a little bit of dimension.

Did you notice those blood-shot looking eyes? Turns out the Stickle color ran a little after applying Glossy Accents. Not sure if these blood-shot eyes are a good thing or not. But, there not going anywhere now. LOL   :)

Finally, this design was inspired by an Operation Write Home sketch. I used oldie-but-goodie OWH Sketch #12... by the uber talented Carol L.  :)

Hope you'll join us for this challenge over at SAS4Kids. In the meantime, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
