from our house to yours

Hi, everyone! Hope it's been a great weekend.

Today's card is inspired by the current Jingle Belles Sketch-O-Licious Challenge, which features a fab sketch by the uber-talented Stephanie.

When I first saw the sketch, I was thinking about a cascading, waterfall kind of shaker card of snowflakes. But, tried as I may, I just couldn't get that to work. However, I still had snowflakes on the brain. So, I decided to stamp and heat emboss snowflakes, but decided to create a horizontal card to better allow for the sentiment I wanted to use.

So, I ended up rotating the sketch 90 degrees and changed up sizes just a bit.... working off the snowflake stamps I had. When stamping the snowflakes, I put some space between the far left, middle three, and two far right snowflakes... filling in with a couple of smaller images. Crossing my fingers that "the bones" of the sketch show through my {ahem} tweaks.  :)

Doodlebug Designs polar pals dp; Stampin' Up! whisper white; Simon Says Stamp card stock
SSS cute snowflakes images; Winnie & Walter sentiment
images and sentiment heat embossed with Versamark and Hampton Arts glittery lilac embossing powder
adhesives: Scotch ATG; foam backing

This pic was taken in the early evening, which may account for its otherworldly feel. The embossed images and sentiment actually have a bit of a lilac cast to them, and the middle layer of the sentiment papers is much more lavender than gray.

I considered adding fishtails to the sentiment strip. But, I decided I wanted to keep it pretty simple as to not detract from the intricacy of the snowflakes.

In addition to sharing at Jingle Belles, I'm going to link this up at the current Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.

Parting Thoughts

Our Words 2 Craft By Challenge runs through Wednesday... with a new challenge starting up a week from Wednesday. Hope you'll stop by and play along.

Have a great week! Until next time, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
