A Small-Town Inspired Thankful Thursday

Hi, everyone! Seems like a while since I've posted. Hope life's been treating you well.

I've had a little astronaut and one big planet on my crafting table the last three days. The good news is that this card's finally done, and the great news is that it's absolutely adorable. However, the bad news is that I can't post it yet since I made it for an upcoming challenge.

I do, however, have a Father's Day card to share... that is a direct result of today's Thankful Thursday events.

Thankful Thursday

Weekend before last, I headed northwest for a weekend visit with a dear, dear friend. That Saturday morning we went garage sale shopping. At one of our stops, we came across tons of wonderful stamps, mini inks, papers.... honestly, anything a card maker could want. Turns out it the owner's mom is a CTMH consultant who is changing obsessions {ahem} hobbies.

So, I picked up a handful of items... and took $33 out of my wallet.... asking for a total in case I needed to put anything back. While I was drooling {ahem} browsing through all these yummy things, my friend had put in a good word for me.... and let the consultant know I made cards for SAS4Kids.... and that she could probably make a deal or two if she really wanted to unload some stuff.

The consultant used to make cards for a hospice ministry and totally understood my mission. As unbelievable as it sounds, my $33 bought: 30 mini pigment ink pads, stamping tools, embossing ink and powder, fringe scissors, a 40-card card-making kit, some 12 x 12 double-sided paper... and 17 CTMH stamp sets, including the stamp set used on the card shown at the right.

I can't even begin to thank Deb for her kindness and generosity.

Cards in Envy currently has a Favorite Color Combo {Anything Goes} Challenge. My color choices tend to vary with the seasons, but blue and brown is a favorite go-to combo for guy cards. So, I'm sharing this SAS4Kids Dad Day card over at SAS4Kids.

Speaking of challenges, our newest Words 2 Craft By Challenge is about a week old. We'd love for you to play along with us. There's a $10 gift certificate to the online merchant of the winner's choice up for grabs.  :)

Have a nice evening. Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  4. Great card. Thank you for your comments on my blog. I don't have any fancy programs, I just use Microsoft Publisher to make my digital cards. You can use Word but I find Publisher a little easier. Have a good day.

  5. Score! Great job. I just went through some of my stamps and was going to donate them. I've collected so, so, so, so many that it's time to part with a few. I miss the SAS4Kids team - when I'm done with school, I hope there is a spot for me to return someday. Hope you well - thanks for joining the Cards in Envy "Favorite Color Challenge. Take care my friend.
