W2CB #43: Liberty

Hi, everyone! It's the second Wednesday of the month, which means it's time for a new challenge over at Words 2 Craft By.

Appropriately, the words for our new July/August challenge come to us from George Washington.

Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.

Since the Fourth isn't much of a card-sending holiday in our family, I chose to concentrate on the "plant of rapid growth" part of the quote and make a card that would be perfect for a tween/teen at Nationwide Children's.... using patriotic colors, of course.  :)

Distress Ink core paper; stash blue cardstock; Neenah Soler white; SU gray cardstock
Penny Black images, stamped in Versamark onyx black and colored with Prismacolor pencils
Paper Smooches botanicals 2 dies; SU twine
flower centers: SU owl builder and cookie builder punches
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Zig 2-way glue pen; Zots glue dots; foam backing

I decided to color the flower pots and flowers in blues and pinks/reds to tie them to the patriotic theme... and help them pop. The hedgehog, snail, and grass were done in gray scale, using cool and warm grays. I went with silver for the watering can, to stay with the gray scale idea but give it a slightly different look.

Sure hope you'll join us at W2CB. There's a $10 gift certificate up for grabs for the winning crafter.  :)

  1. Sybrina, your card is adorable! Love those hedgehogs and how you've colored them - so sweet! Thanks for leaving some love earlier this month :-)
