W2SB #21: Talk Like a Pirate

Hi, everyone! It's the first of the month, which means it's time for a new Words 2 Scrap By challenge!

I really wanted Polly the Parrot to be the star of this card. So, I used bright Distress Ink papers for her and went tone-on-tone for the rest of the card. Since the color of the paper used for the pilings is pretty close to the background paper color, I placed a few waves behind the pilings. And, then I went with vellum for the message in a bottle -- again to avoid drawing attention away from Polly.

Stampin' Up! neutral cardstock and vellum; Distress Ink core; (inside) Cardstock Warehouse white; stash tan cardstock
Paper Smooches Ahoy, Matey stamp set and coordinating Ahoy dies
sentiments and message bottle stamped in DI black soot
Paper Smooches waves, patterns, bows, and quotable dies
stash sequins: adhesives: Scotch ATG; Recollections foam squares; Glue Dots

Arrrr, mateys! Hope you'll join us at Words 2 Scrap By for this fun challenge. Kim at Paper Smooches is donating an Ahoy, Me Hearty stamp set for this month's prize treasure.   :)

Speaking of Paper Smooches, I'm linking Polly up for the October Guest Designer Search.

Parting Thoughts

There's still time to enter the current Cards in Envy Cute and Cuddly challenge. We'd love for you to join us for this sweet challenge.

Think that's it for now. Thanks for stopping, happy scrappin', and have a great week!

  1. Wait, there's matching dies for this guy? I have the red rubber one from when Kim was still with Cornish Heritage Farms. Must investigate.

Oh, and Talk Like A Pirate Day is Sept 19th. You'll see this guy then on my blog. :D
