Tonight's card was made for the current Fantastic Plastic Challenge over at Shopping Our Stash. And, boy, is that appropriate for this card. I'm actually crafting from the road -- with a limited stash. I sure am glad I put in that pack of vellum before hitting the road.
The photo above is a great pic of the effect achieved with the inked vellums, as well as being a good representation of the colors created by layering the paper and vellums. I inked the watercolor base in mustard seed. Then I inked the bottom vellum -- masking off the sentiment strip -- in peacock feathers. Finally, I inked the sentiment strip on the top vellum in picked raspberry.
Sadly, my on-the-road stash is sequin-less and gem-less, so I used linen thread to adhere the two vellum pieces to the card base. The colors in the photo below are a terrible depiction of the actual colors. However, the pic shows the final card design. As you can see, I used some black elements to strengthen the visual impact of the sentiment strip, as well as adding a few circles to "ground" the card's top.
Parting Thoughts
