The photo at the right shows my father-in-law with our thirteen-year-old pup this past Christmas. Miles is a shelter rescue who just couldn't be any sweeter. As soon as he came out of his cage at the shelter, all it took was one hand kiss and one tail wag for him to wiggle his way into our hearts.
Miles is actually the third dog that our family has adopted from the local shelter. In addition, my in-laws rescued one other orphaned doggy. There's nothing like the love that these little guys bring to a home.
Today's Card
There's an Anything Goes 4 Kids Challenge going on at SAS4Kids. So, I was looking at my stash and trying to decide between tiny heroes, bionic bots, cute monsters, huggable critters, or adorable dogs.
So, I hopped over to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog. When I saw that the current SSS challenge is Inspired by a Song, I couldn't help but think of a sweet song recorded by Patti Page a while back. While the songs an oldie, the sentiment is truer than ever... and provides a perfect excuse to finally ink up a NBUS MFT stamp set!)
How much is that doggie in the window [insert "shelter']?
The one with the waggly tail
Finally, before inking up my stamps, I thought I'd swing over to Mojo Monday and check out the newest sketch. It's been a while since I've played over there and have been going through Mojo-withdrawal. :)
When I saw Mojo Monday 436, I found the sketch at the right and knew exactly what I wanted to do. I was going to punch out three circles -- that would include paw prints -- and include the sentiment, "You Make My Tail Wag". Best laid plans, right?!
Once I got into the card, I decided to go with a horizontal card. Then, after I positioned the sentiment and doggies, I decided to stamp the paw prints directly on the paper, rather than embedding them in circles. In addition, I opted to forego the bottom circle altogether.
Since the sketch was the springboard for my card, think I'm going to link it up anyway. My apologies to Julie and the Mojo team if I've strayed too far from the sketch to be linking up the card.
With no further ado, here's my Miles-SAS4Kids-SSS-Mojo-inspired card. :)
The sentiment strip took a while. I decided to use two dogs and make the sentiment plural. In a perfect world, I would have stamped this as one continuous sentence on a single strip of paper. But, not even my MISTI was making that happen... maybe because the font is narrow with such little spacing between words.
So, I decided to stamp each word separately, tweaking words in the stamp set to make it work. Then, I had a eureka moment -- thinking about making a bone-shaped strip that formed the shown card sentiment.
Again, my apologies to Julie and the Mojo team is this is too much of a stretch to include in the gallery.
Parting Thoughts
There's still about a week to play the current Words 2 Craft By Challenge. W2CB's My Heart Devotion Challenge is accepting entries until March 2. There are gift certificates -- and a Guest Designer spot -- up for grabs. Hope you'll stop by and play along. :)
Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
