CIE Just Purple

Hi, everyone! It's a post-March-Madness Monday around here. Needless to say, there are some blurry eyes in our household.  :)

So, is your favorite team still alive? How is your bracket holding up?

CIE Just Purple

More importantly, it's a Cards in Envy Monday!!!

Our challenge for the next couple of weeks is Just Purple. Any theme of card is fine (birthday, thank you, etc.), but cards should be primarily purple. As always, cards should be flat enough to be mailed in a standard envelope.

Here's my card for our challenge. I just love this new background stamp... and jumped at the opportunity to finally ink up this NBUS stamp.   :)

Distress Ink milled lavendar and bundled sage; Stampin' Up! vellum and gray cardstock; Recollections black
SU a world of thanks background stamp, heat embossed with Versamark and clear Recollections powder
Paper Shaper and SU flower punches; SU leaf Sizzlit
computer-generated sentiment, printed on vellum
Cuttlebug embossing folder; Queen & Co. crystal gems

The background shown on the card above was achieved after two "failed" attempts. Truth be told, I made this card a while back and don't quite remember what went wrong.
  • But, I think the first failed attempt came from heat embossing in Distress Ink on Distress Ink core paper.
  • If memory serves, the second attempt involved heat embossing in Distress Ink on white (white-ish watercolor?) paper.
  • Success came when heat embossing with Versamark ink and clear powder. :)

Parting Thoughts

A new For the Boys Challenge started at Send a Smile 4 Kids on Saturday.

And, the current She Began to Fly Challenge continues over at Words 2 Craft By -- with a chance for followers and participants to win Simon Says Stamp gift certificates.  :)

Okay, we have a few days before the Madness starts back up. Until then, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  1. Hi Sybrina! Your card is so pretty and just in time for all the pink blossoms flowering all around here, including the cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin in DC!
