Card 1: The Essence of Kindness
The card below was inspired by Shari's Day 4 video over at Clear & Sheer.
I loved the idea of coloring a background panel and layering an acetate overlay of the same image. This pretty Sttampin' Up! image seemed like a perfect stamp to use for this technique.
The tulips are colored in pink, purple, and a touch of red. So, I thought a pink ribbon would help pop the tulips. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't quite capture this, partly because I had to angle the picture to avoid reflection from the acetate.
In addition to OCC, I was inspired by the current Sketch Saturday challenge. Today's card was based upon Sketch #262.
I'm also going to share this OCC-inspired tulip bouquet over at the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.
Card 2: Think Ink
My second card was inspired by our last technique class over at Colette's.
materials: All Stampin' Up!!! |
However, my card is a bit of a departure from the one we made in class... due to no fault of our fearless leader. I wasn't pleased with my placement of the image on the original card base. So, I did some cutting and layering to come up with the card above.
That said, I love the focal panel. Because of the ink used on this panel, I'm going to share this over at the Shopping Our Stash Think Ink Challenge. I know the design is basic, but I think it's a perfect layout to accent this pretty panel.
Parting Thoughts
It'll be a while before I get to play along with the girls at Colette's. So, I want to thank Colette and her merry band of stampers for making this snowbird feel at home. :)
There are just a few more days to play along with us at Words 2 Craft By. We'd love for you to join us.
Have a wonderful week, and I'll be back here in a few hours with a new Cards in Envy challenge. Until then, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
