SAS4Kids Spring Colors 4 Kids -- March 4

Hi, everyone! It's the first Saturday of the month... which means it's time for a new SAS4Kids Challenge!

Our theme for the next few weeks is Spring Colors 4 Kids. And, we have two great sponsors for this challenge. Participants will be eligible to win two gift certificates:

  • $12 to Sami Stamps and
  • $15 Dies R Us!

For my card, I used a tweet little bird -- sorry, I just couldn't resist -- from Sami Stamps. This Be Mine Feathers digi is actually a Valentine digi, but when I saw this little guy, I immediately envisioned a row of pastel tweeties.  :)

Sami Stamp Be Mine Feathers digi stamp
Neenah Soler white; Stampin' Up! gray; various colors of stash cardstock
sentiment: "tweetings" from Lawn Fawn winter sparrows and heart from Lawn Fawn booyah
sentiment stamped in Distress Ink hickory smoke
birds' inking: DI tumbled glass, spiced marmalade, Victorian velvet, hickory smoke, applied with SU daubers
birds' coloring with Prismacolor pencils and outlining with Memento black pen
birds' heart circles: SU cookie builder punch
adhesives: Scotch ATG; Zig 2-way pen

I started by printing this digi on white and colored papers. Next, I masked along the horizontal line formed by the outstretched legs and then dabbed tumbled glass (for a touch of sky) and hickory smoke (for shadows/ground).The birds were created with some serious fussy cutting and light inking (to add highlights). Hearts were punched out using tiny circles from the SU cookie builder punch. Finally, I stamped sentiment using two Lawn Fawn stamp sets.

We so hope you'll join us this month at SAS4Kids. We'd love to see your colorful kid-friendly creations.  :)
