hello spring

Hi, everyone! Happy Weekend!

Well, maybe my next Thankful Thursday post should be about having at least a little restraint... because I actually escaped from the Simon Says CREATE store with a bill of {only} $87! LOL Hubby doesn't seem to appreciate just how much of an accomplishment this is.... but an accomplishment it is.

My shopping bag included the following absolute needs: Neenah Soler white paper and clear embossing powder; these somewhat needs: Ranger stamp storage sheets, a new Wink-of-Stella pen, and a pack of MISTI magnets; and these-too-sweet-to-pass-up items: a  beautiful Hero Arts color layering birds and blossoms stamp set, Simon Says falling stars die, two TCW stencils, and a packet of SSS spring flower sequins. And, it could've been sooooooo much worse.

In addition to the fabulous brick-and-mortar pop-up store, you just never know whom you are going to run into at CREATE. My friend Mary Anne was thrilled to do a make-and-take demo with Laura Bassen.... and I loved watching Tim do a demo with his Oxides.

For today's card, I made use of the Hero Arts stamp set and one of the TCW stencils. I also stamped with Distress Oxides for the very first time. The result was a sorta shabby chic look... an atypical look for me... and a look I love.  :)

stash blue papers; DCWV SWEET matstack plaid dp; Strathmore watercolor
Hero Arts coloring layers birds & blossoms images and sentiment
Distress Oxides: broken china, worn lipstick, and iced spruce
other inks: Stampin' Up! tip top taupe; StazOn jet black
The Crafter's Workshop mini octagonal lace stencil, stamped on SU vellum and fussy cut
SU stitched circle dies;  Really Reasonable Ribbon ribbon; Recollections pearls
adhesives: Scotch ATG;  foam backing

This stamp set produces such pretty images, which is a really good thing... because some of the itty, bitty stamps are pretty darn tricky to align properly. I decided to let this lovely circular element be the focal point, choosing to go with a subtly stamped sentiment and a few small pearl accents.

I'm going to share this over at the Cards in Envy Pretty Pastels Challenge and the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.

Parting Thoughts

There's still time to play along with our N-U-M-B-E-R M-O-U-S-E Challenge at Words 2 Craft By. There's a $10 gift certificate to the online store of the winner's choice up for grabs. And, with the way the calendar falls, there's an extra week to play along with the Punches and/or Dies 4 Kids Challenge over at Send a Smile 4 Kids.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Until next time, thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!
